The plastering industry is currently without a relevant Australian Standard for solid plastering. The last Australian Standard for solid plastering, CA27 (1959), lapsed in 1969. Although useful at the time, the standard doesn't recognise the changes in lifestyle, plastering practices, building design, and product technology that have occurred over the past thirty five years. The West Australian Solid Plastering Association is actively involved in the development of an updated Australian Standard, in conjunction with Standards Australia, a Handbook (HP161) Guide to Plastering is now available from SAI Global, GPO Box 5420 Sydney NSW 2001. SpecificationsRecognising the building industry's critical need for information on correct plastering practices, the West Australian Solid Plastering Association has produced the "Interim Specification for Solid Plastering". The Interim Specification outlines the plastering practices jointly recommended by Western Australia's top quality plastering teams, manufacturers and builders. The Interim Specification fills the void left by the demise of the CA27 (1957) and the lack of a current Australian Standard for plastering. It is a guideline only for solid plastering within the West Australian building industry and should be treated as such. The Specification is constantly being updated in accordance with industry feedback. To view a copy of the "Interim Specification for Solid Plastering", click here.
